Let the dirt do its work

I recently listened to this message as a podcast and I just had to share it.

I hope it will give you a new perspective on your life and what's happening in it as it did with me.

We need context for this message so let's read this short story.

26 He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. 28 All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come."

— Mark 4.26-29
Before we dive into the text, I want you to know that everything that creates impact, creates opposition.
So, impact and opposition will always go together even if you try to separate them.

Now, in this context, the soil is our soul, our mind, our will, and our emotions. Don't forget this because it will be very important each time we talk about soil or dirt.

This story is a parable and parables are always used to teach us about a deeper meaning. In this case, the deeper meaning is about the kingdom of God.

Jesus says that the kingdom of God is like a seed and with that analogy, there are three things we can learn about the kingdom of God:

1) It often seems insignificant. (simple like a seed)
2)It often appears invisible. (like a seed under the soil)
3) Often you feel ignorant. (as we don't know how it works)

The third point is common in our lives because most times we don't know how to live as Christians.

The first thing Mary reply to the angel that made the announcement about Jesus birth was "how". The first thing the disciples replied to Jesus when He asked them to give food to all people who assisted was "how". Actually, the "how" is the starting place for spiritual growth.

We have to remember that even though the seed is ours, the harvest is His so we don't need to know how. Therefore, if you're waiting to "know" so you can start "sowing" then you're out of order.

Consider that the best part of this process is not when the farmer put the seed but when the seed starts to grow beneath the dirt.

Your destiny will be revealed in the DIRT (Disappointment, Insecurity, Rejection, and Trouble).
On first instance, we may think that the farmer represents Jesus and that the seed is the word of God, but the problem with this analogy is that the farmer doesn't know how and Jesus knows everything. Therefore, Jesus was the seed.

Jesus didn't die, He was planted like a seed. So, when most people thought that He was dead, actually His story was just beginning.

If you have been on a season of failure or depression, or uncertainty, or rejection, or disappointment, let the dirt do its work. Don't fight it and don't run from it.

We don't need to know how when we know who.

Some people are stuck because they want to know everything and since dirt is uncertainty they don't want to get into the dirt. But it's needed for us as it was needed for Jesus.

Jesus is the seed of God planted in the soil of the earth for three days and, up to this day, his resurrection gives us expectation.

Sometimes it's better if we don't know so we don't get confused.

Remember this phrase
"I don't know how but I know who".

Resurrection is not an event, it is a person. Jesus said "I'm the resurrection and the life", so if you need resurrection in a situation of your life, you don't need to know how, you need to know who.

Jesus is with you.
