Drawing Near: A Holy Week Reflection

As Jesus entered the temple, He confronted a troubling reality: outward religion had replaced true worship. The temple, meant to be a place of prayer, had become a marketplace. People were more focused on rituals, appearances, and profit than on God.

It’s a warning we still need today.

Sometimes, our churches—and even our personal lives—can look impressive on the outside but lack real spiritual depth. We may sing, serve, and give, yet miss the heart of it all: sincere prayer, compassion, and connection with God.

This Holy Week, let’s ask:
  • Am I practicing true faith, or just going through the motions?
  • Have I made space for Jesus to cleanse and renew my heart?
God isn’t looking for perfect performances—He wants a surrendered heart. One that prays, loves, and reflects His grace.

A Prayer for Holy Week

Lord, strip away my pride and distractions.
Help me seek You with a sincere heart. Renew my faith from the inside out. This week, may I draw near to You.
Amen
