By Pastor Bobby Schuller "Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops..." -Proverbs 3:9 In most cases, Sabbath is the first day of the week. It's the first fruits of our time. Therefore, Sabbath is supposed to bleed into the rest of the week. Does that make sense? There's supposed to be a Sabbath spirit, an unhurried, clear, centered, peaceful you that is present in all the work you do. In a world that tries to drive you, push you, and force you to do more, produce more, you will remember as you work, "I am not what I do. I am a child of God. I am a Sabbath disciple." So, a part of that Sabbath rhythm ought to be a daily life of prayer. In other words, I'm going to advocate very strongly that every day you experience something like a nice, solitary walk, or a quiet time by the fire with your Bible, or some time in the morning before your family gets up to be by yourself with the Lord and to give your day to him. In every single day, there ought to be, if not thirty minutes, ten minutes, or so. Every day, there will be a Sabbath rhythm during which you don't have to necessarily pray but just pause and acknowledge the presence, goodness, and will of God in your life that day. Prayer: Dear Lord, as I worship you on Sunday, may that set the tone for the rest of my week. Let my work be worship, my sleep be worship, my every day be filled with worship for you. Amen. Reflection: How do you worship God throughout the week?
