🌿 Resting in God: The Invitation to Slow Down
💭 The Rest We’re All Craving
In a world that glorifies hustle and constant motion, Jesus offers something radically different: rest. Not just physical rest, but soul-deep renewal. If your spiritual walk feels more like a sprint than a stroll, this message is for you.
🔥 Devotion Shouldn’t Drain You
Frank Laubach once said, “If you are weary of some sleepy form of devotion, God is probably just as weary of it as you are.” That’s a wake-up call. Devotion isn’t meant to be lifeless—it’s meant to revive us.
Jesus never intended for us to carry burdens He didn’t give us. He said, “Come to Me… and I will give you rest.” That’s not just poetic—it’s a promise.
🕊️ Jesus Was Busy, But Never Rushed
No one had more to do than Jesus. Yet He was never frantic. He maintained a deep, life-giving connection with the Father and always had time to love people well. His rhythm included regular solitude and prayer.
Even when His disciples returned from ministry, buzzing with excitement, Jesus didn’t say, “Let’s keep going.” He said, “Come away… all by yourselves and rest a while.” (Mark 6:31)
🚦 Hurry Is a Warning Sign
Mark describes the disciples as so busy they didn’t even have time to eat. Sound familiar? When life feels like a blur, it’s often because we’ve let second and third things become first things.
We chase microwave maturity, trading wisdom for information and depth for breadth. But spiritual depth doesn’t come quickly—it grows slowly, like roots beneath the surface.
🌸 Slow Down and Be With Him
You can’t follow Jesus at a sprint. You can’t go faster than the One who’s leading. So pause. Breathe. Don’t just work for God—spend time with Him.
Let your soul catch up with your body. Let your devotion be alive again. Rest isn’t weakness—it’s worship.
