As we step into the New Year, let's remember that when fear knocks on our door, we should send faith to answer. We can conquer fear, but only with faith. When the devil tells us, “You can’t,” we should remember God tells us, “You can.” Even though we may feel fear, we can move forward in faith.
When Peter saw Jesus walking on water and wanted to do the same, he exited the boat and began taking steps. As long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on water. But when he began to look at the storm and the raging waves around him, he grew frightened and started to sink. Jesus reached out and saved him, but He also lovingly rebuked him for his fear, asking him why he had such little faith and so much doubt (see Matthew 14:25-31).
Matthew 14:27 NLT
But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!”
God never stops loving us and doesn’t become angry with us because we choose fear. However, it does make Him sad because He wants us to live the best life we can live. He sent Jesus so we could have life and have it abundantly (see John 10:10).
As we embrace the New Year, let's resolve to confront fear and become the courageous people God wants us to be. Although we may have been ruled by fear in the past, we can choose today to live boldly and faithfully.
John 10:10 NLT
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
