‘Yes’ in the face of Love

4Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

God asks us to say 'yes' to him time and again. And sometimes we do, and sometimes we don't. But
perhaps the greatest 'yes' God has ever asked of anyone happened 2000 years ago when an ordinary
teenager sang a song to her God in acceptance of his commission. She questioned at first how such a thing could happen. She was just a girl, after all.

Read:
Luke 1:26-38 Mary's song of acceptance.
Luke 22:30-44 Jesus' 'yes'.

But God answered her objections through the angel's reply and we are told of the most glorious 'yes'
anyone has ever given God.
'My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour …'

The beautiful words ring down through the ages.
Did she know the prophecies?
Did she understand what was to happen to her baby son?

As a mother, Mary was to suffer as she watched her son nailed to the cross. It was, indeed the most glorious 'yes' … until her Son said his own 'yes' in Gethsemane some thirty years later.

Points to Ponder:
When have you felt loved by God recently?
What does that love mean to you?
How can you tell him, show him, what it means?
Who can you tell about it? When will you do so?
Make a note in your journal and hold yourself accountable to take whatever action God leads you to take.

Pray for others:
Abba, many do not know or do not recognise your love. May this day be the time
when your love breaks through for them. May they know they are loved by their Creator God – and may they love you in return. Come in power, Lord Jesus, and touch many lives this day that one person after another says 'yes' to you.

Pray for yourself:
Lord, whatever you ask of me, may I always say 'yes' to you. May I recognise your guidance, may I have the courage and the ability only you can give to fulfil the task you give me, and may I be a channel through which your love can flow to touch the lives of those around me. Let your love radiate through me and from me that others feel your love too.
