Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for Him to act. Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. (Psalm 37:7 NLT)
The discipline of silence is hard for us because we go toe-to-toe and face-to-face with our need to control and fix things, while our Scripture in Psalms teaches us to do the exact opposite: "Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act." This truth requires some silence on our part.
Some therapists call it the seven-second count, when you actually count in your mind to seven… meaning you don't open your mouth for seven seconds in order to let your client speak.

The basic desire and need of all human beings is to be heard and understood, but if you do not leave space for both listening and speaking, that does not occur.
God desires for us to go to Him and share our story because He truly cares and admonishes us to be still and silently wait for Him to speak. We will never be able to hear what God is saying if we continue talking and don't just sit in His presence.
There is a time to be silent and a time to speak. God moments happen when we learn the art of both.
Tangible Takeaway:
Sit in the presence of the Lord today… be still and patiently wait for Him to act. Be silent and listen to His still, small voice. Psalm 46:10 (NLT) says, "Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world." Write this verse on an index card as a reminder and place it in your Bible.
