"And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." -2 Corinthians 3:18
We find ourselves mimicking and copying people who are empty and lost and wanting. They need you, instead, to model for them what it means to be a person filled with peace and life and goodness.
People need someone like you to model what it means to be truly alive. They do not need more followers to enable their inner death. They need you to be like Jesus. They need people that put their anger to death, people that are honest, people that turn their cheeks when slapped, people that desire peace, people that love their enemies, people that overcome evil with good, people who pray, people who seek God's face, who desire him, who love what is good, who hate what is evil. They need people like that. They need people like you.
Paul is saying not to conform any longer. He's saying not to be a chameleon. Don't just look like everyone around you. Don't be concerned so much with what the world thinks about you. Stop trying to look, in your outward appearance, like everyone else. They don't need another lemming. He says, instead, to be transformed by Jesus, as you have been transformed.
Prayer: Dear Lord, how glorious it is to know that you are transforming me from a creature of this world into a child of the kingdom. With an "unveiled face," I can be a beautiful witness of your love to all I meet. Amen.
Reflection: Since walking closer with the Lord, how have you been transformed from your old self? |
